MEWC IPv6 Transition and Migration Project

Informational transaction is vital for government agencies to run their daily operations. The current E-government project is still hooked to the use of IPv4 networks. However, the looming exhaustion of IPv4 network addresses requires the need for the current IPv4 networks to migrate to IPv6. The National IPv6 Council has adopted a deadline for all government agencies involved in the E-government project to migrate to IPv6 as soon as possible. The year 2008 is recognized as a starting point, for the core national administrative institutions to begin its migrations towards IPv6.

The migration process for the E-government networks would proceed in a gradual manner adopting several well-recognized techniques such as dual stacking, tunneling and progressing towards a fully IPv6 enabled networks. The techniques mentioned here, not only require the latest model of equipments, but also involve a significant amount of man power to ensure a seamless migration process.
